10 Things We Want from the Future of Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Star Wars: The Clone Wars has ended another season filled to the brim with dark stories and major revelations. But with the Disney buyout, the future of the show could be in danger. Realistically, Clone Wars is definitely closer to ending as this past season had some major deaths and the reason Ahsoka isn’t in Revenge of the Sith was at least partially explained. But there’s enough loose ends to fill one final season. Here’s ten things we would like to see from the show’s future, if it has one.

The bounty hunter was actually completely absent from season five. Right now this guy is king of the galactic underworld. That clearly changes by the time Darth Vader hires Boba Fett in Empire Strikes Back. Something needs to happen to this villain created for the series before it ends.

This is a tough one to call if Ahsoka’s story really is over forever. But if not, something has to be done about the romantic tension she shares with this one time Separatist. Wouldn’t it be cool perhaps if the two of them had something to do with the birth of the Rebellion? Basically if Ahsoka is back, then Lux has to come back.

Technically, the series doesn’t have to show us how the young Fett throws on the Mandalorian armor, but they’ve done a wonderful job with the character so far. The show has been building to the original trilogy just as much as Revenge of the Sith, so just maybe we’ll see him put on the iconic costume.

The deleted scenes of Revenge of the Sith delve into this a bit more than the actual movie, but how cool would it be if we saw Padme and Bail Organa planting the seeds for the group that will eventually overthrow the Empire. There are certainly enough characters around to do this. Admiral Ackbar was already featured in one story arc. More is definitely possible.

The return of the ill-fated Sith has proved to be one of the best stories the show ever produced. With the recent death of his brother, and Darth Sidious claiming he has a use for him, I can’t wait to see where Maul shows up next. He is a perfect example of a character that needs to be dealt with before Revenge of the Sith.

Like Maul, this villain actually does need to go away before Episode III. Ventress has basically become the Catwoman of the Star Wars universe through this series. Since being betrayed by Count Dooku, her path has become more sympathetic. She even helped Ahsoka try and clear her name. When and if Ventress goes, it’s going to be a tragic moment.

Captain Rex is a hero. Not one part of me thinks he would willingly participate in Order 66. Does he leave the military? Is he forced to participate? Will they kill him? Rex has only been a friend to the Jedi, often fighting alongside them and holding his own. I do hope the writers don’t forget about his loyalty before the series is over.

Now that Ahsoka’s out of the Jedi Order what next? Could she train under Ventress? Could she settle down with Lux? Will she ever see Anakin again? Ahsoka’s future is a big mystery, and as perfect as her departure was, I wouldn’t complain if we got to see where Ahsoka lands before the events of Revenge of the Sith.

The Star Wars saga has plenty of dark moments, but nothing quite matches up to the massacre of the Jedi by the barrels of the trusted soldiers they command. It’s clear in Revenge of the Sith that Palpatine had this planned for a long time. Seeing that planning on The Clone Wars would be a real treat. Seeing how characters like Rex and Cody react to these orders could make for some excellent drama. The series has always done the clones really well and this could be their final great story.

The way Anakin is portrayed on this show makes me forget all about Hayden Christensen. As the series has progressed he’s only gone darker. His abrupt turn to the Dark Side in Episode III actually makes sense after watching this show. So how does he deal with Ahsoka leaving? How is his relationship with Padme going to come apart? Clone Wars can answer these questions, just as it showed us why he is the chosen one and why he mistrusts the Jedi Order.
