First ‘Breaking Dawn’ Trailer Released to the Masses

Last night at the MTV Movie Awards, the first trailer for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 was revealed. It appears that the marketing people over at Summit Entertainment have given up on appealing to non-Twilight fans.

The opening sequence of the trailer shows various characters receiving an invitation to the wedding of the two main characters. It only takes 40 seconds to get an awkwardly long look at Taylor Lautner shirtless, in the rain, again. Then, we see what looks like a beautiful ceremony for Bella and Edward. What comes after is completely tasteless; a shot of Edward breaking the bed while he and Bella have sex. After that there are a few shots that show some of the more action packed moments in the film, as well as Bella realizing she is pregnant.

Check out the trailer here.

I actually saw the original Twilight and did not think it was the worst thing in the world. What I saw of New Moon before shutting it off was the worst thing in the world, and I did not bother to see Eclipse. I do not remember the trailers for any of the other installments being so narrow minded. The trailer for Breaking Dawn Part 1 is only trying to appeal to the people so heavily invested in Bella and Edward’s relationship that these big happy moments are all they need to show. I have never seen sex so tastelessly thrown into a trailer. Not to mention Taylor Lautner’s abs, which probably work harder for these movies than he does.

No matter what, Breaking Dawn Part 1 will make a lot of money when it comes out in November. The biggest question is what will make more money; this or the final Harry Potter in July. I will personally see Deathly Hallows Part 2 as many times as I need to be sure it makes more money than Breaking Dawn Part 1.
