Parks and Recreation: Ann’s Decision Season 5 Episode 12 Review

I have one question for you after tonight’s Parks and Recreation, how cuterus is your uterus?

If the title was any indicator, this was a big episode for Ann. Pulling a Liz Lemon, Ann wants to become a mother, but has yet to meet someone she deems worthy. Ann hasn’t really had an interesting story since dating Chris a few seasons back, so it’s a smart movie to put her at the forefront again. Leslie doesn’t like the idea (“All women should be in control of their own body. In this case the body is Ann’s and I’m the woman in control.”), and tries to find a better solution. Behind Ann’s back, of course. She ends up on the radio fighting for Ann’ uterus in a kiddie pool filled with Jell-O. God I love Pawnee.

Meanwhile, Ben, Chris, Ron, and Tom continue the planning of Leslie’s wedding by trying all the food. But they all get food poisoning, leading to some hysterical physical comedy as everyone besides Tom struggles to keep everything down. Ben knows Leslie only wants a catering company from Pawnee, and when they get to a classic hometown diner, the choice is obvious. I’m starting to get the feeling that this eventual “wedding of the millenium” is going to be perfect.

In a cute development, April was leading town forums all week with Andy. I like that she’s taking up Leslie’s role in the parks department. The few scenes this story had were just enough. It didn’t quite provide the normal amount of comedy town forums typically deliver on this show, but served its purpose. April found her footing in the meeting and everything worked out.

Ann’s Decision was a really fun episode that contained some major plot developments for underused characters. The wedding developments are a nice touch too. I can’t wait for everything that’s coming next. Grade: A-
