As a huge Game of Thrones fan, the last episode was incredibly clever and I’ve been anticipating the successor since. This episode didn’t quite live up to that, but it still delivered enough laughs to get by.

As Black Friday approaches, Cartman schemes to trick the PS4 backers by luring them into a Red Robin for a wedding party (get it?).

But first, Kenny is still in his own anime fantasy where he hilariously dies for the first time in season 17.

Eventually, the whole gang gets together for the Red Robin Wedding. The betrayals furiously fly until Bill Gates and the CEO of Sony face off in a fight to the death for Black Friday sales. Bill Gates wins.

Meanwhile, George R.R. Martin is taking his sweet time (surprise, surprise) to get to the South Park mall to cut the ribbon, thus initiating Black Friday.

Once Black Friday starts, the blood bath commences. People die everywhere and the mall is covered in blood. The best part of the episode was the inclusion of real clips from Black Friday stores everywhere showing the madness of the “holiday” (there were at least four deaths this year last time I checked).

So the boys get their Xbox Ones, but realize that video games may not be the best way for them to hang out and have fun. Cartman picks up a twig as to say “our imagination is more powerful than any console”.

Before cutting to black, we see an five-second ad for the upcoming South Park video game The Stick of Truth. Clever…clever…

Critically, there isn’t much to say about this episode, it had some strong moments, but didn’t quite live up to the spot of Game of Thrones parody from two weeks ago. We’ll just have to wait and see what next week’s finale has in store for us. Grade: B
