‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars – Mercy Mission’ Review

You can never go wrong with C-3PO and R2-D2. You can go wrong with cute little creatures, like Star Wars has before, and I am sure will do again. So what this episode ended up being was a mixed bag.

The creatures in this episode were about the same combination of cute and annoying that the Ewoks were in Return of the Jedi. The ritual they were doing was a nice call back to our furry friends from Endor, but it quickly became too much, just as it did in episode six of the film series. I do like how the clones commented on how “it’s going to be another one of those planets”. The creators know what they are doing and it makes it funnier to comment on it.

Luckily much of the episode focused on the two droids we have grow to love since 1977. It helps that Anthony Daniels actually voices C-3PO still. It makes the dynamic from the films transition to the TV show flawlessly. The story surrounding them was a bit hokey with the long drawn out riddle (it’s a river, a freaking river, we did not need to hear it twice). But the iconic nature of the characters and their classic dynamic saves this episode.

This episode had a lot of fun moments and a lot of annoying ones as well. I am disappointed that next week is another episode focusing on the droids. One is enough for a while but I would like to see another episode focusing on the droids in the future, just not next week. I want more Jedi, and battles, and guns. Do I sound like a person who just wants action? Probably but remember, this show has the word “wars” in the title. (7/10)
