The Third and Final Trailer for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’!

Well this is a fun late night surprise! Check out two and a half glorious minutes of The Dark Knight Rises!

Sorry Marvel, but this trailer is just better than anything you have offered up to us from The Avengers and The Amazing Spider-man. I am not detracting from your work, because it is awesome, but holy sh*t that was just, well it was perfect. Check out the trailer below, and a discussion of what we can see below that.

One of the first shots we get in the trailer is Bruce Wayne clearly looking older. Remember, eight years have passed since The Dark Knight. Following that we see a lot of the great plane robbery seen last fall in the prologue.

Then we get a montage just after Bane tells a man “I am Gotham’s reckoning” full of silent action. This is a very moody trailer. It isn’t exciting that Gotham is falling apart and that Batman must once again battle the forces of evil, it’s sad. The most shocking shot comes when we see several bridges into the city explode.

Finally we get some plot details, clearly Bane has gotten a hold of Bruce Wayne, but does he know that he is Batman? Looks like it. It also seems that Batman is gone for some time as Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character John Blake is asked by a child whether he thinks “he” (referring to a bat symbol drawn in white chalk) is coming back.

I also have to say that I love how emotional these Alfred moments keep getting in the trailers as he tells Bruce that he won’t bury him as he has buried too many of the Wayne family. I expect that Rises will be Michael Caine’s best work in the series.

We also get a lot of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman in this trailer, and I have to say, my skepticism is over. It seems the character will be more of an antihero than a full fledged villain, and Hathaway knocks every scene out of the park. We see her and Batman fighting thugs together towards the end of the trailer. But will she be Bruce’s love interest in the film? Perhaps not as we see him kissing Marion Cotillard’s character “Miranda Tate” (come on Nolan we all know it’s Talia al Ghul).

The trailer leaves us with an awesome glimpse at the new air born Bat-vehicle known as The Bat, which looks nothing short of incredible.

All in all, this is one hell of a clip to leave us hanging for the next two and half months. My concerns for how Hathaway would do have subsided. This is the Batman movie we’ve been waiting for folks.
